Alien 4 : Resurrection (1997) - Instant Whisky cubic
The captain at starship experimenting an alien species is about to drink his whisky which is not liquid but solid seems normal instant food.
The laser beam comes out from the machine and it destroys the bond of whisky cube turning into a liquid form.
This could be very tricky, because keeping liquid form food as solid or powder is existing technology like normal tea or chicken stock. However the designer who generated this idea must be trying to think of a different way of resolving the molecules instead of stirring up.
If we reckon any advantage we can get from this technology, it would be saving the effort of melting or resolving to make it liquid and probably will be saving the time.
On the other hand as we know of the laser is carrying a lot of energy into a small spot, heating the target spot by discharging the energy so destroying all the molecule bond by heating just one spot of whisky cube does not seem realistic with the current existing technology.
